Her photography has taken her to some of the most desolate deserts in the American West to some of the most prized surf beaches in the world. Sternbach’s solo exhibition, SurfLand, which captures portraits of surfers in tintype, was featured at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, in May 2009. SurfLand has traveled to Blue Sky Gallery, Southeast Museum of Photography in Daytona Beach, FL and various group shows around the globe. Sternbach’s first monograph, SurfLand, was published in May 2009 by photolucida.
